What is the ABF?
Beekeepers across the U.S. are joining the American Beekeeping Federation, the national association that makes a difference in the beekeeping industry. For over 50 years, the American Beekeeping Federation has been serving the needs of the U.S. beekeeper.
Serving as your representative to the federal government - While you are busy with your bees, the ABF is keeping tabs on what’s happening in Washington of special interest to beekeepers and getting the information to you. Funded by the Legislative Fund.
Promoting honey through the American Honey Queen Program - Recipe folders using honey are available to you for use in your promotional and educational efforts. You can also arrange for the Queen or Princess to visit your marketing area for a promotion. Funded by the Honey Queen Fund.
Protecting and assuring the purity of honey in the market - The Federation pays for testing samples suspected of being adulterated with a cheaper sweetener and funds honey purity research. Funded by the Honey Defense Fund.
Operating as a resource point for the beekeeping industry - Every day the ABF staff fields a wide range of questions about the beekeeping industry. Reporters looking for information, buyers searching for sources of hive products, and members and other beekeepers looking for miscellaneous information.
Hosting the annual ABF Convention and Trade Show - In addition to an informative program and dozens of commercial exhibits, the convention features the American Honey Show and the selection of the American Honey Queen and other social acitivities.
Publishing an informative, bi-monthly member’s newsletter - Provides members with up-to-date information on happenings in the beekeeping industry.
Publishing a directory of its membership - The directory is often used by buyers and suppliers seeking sources and customers. Free listing for members. A current directory is enclosed in each new member packet.
Providing for a beekeeper’s liability insurance program Through the Federation’s master policy you can obtain liability insurance to protect your beekeeping operation in today’s litigious society. State and local organizations can be covered as well.
