FDA Issues Warning to Food Manufacturers
Commissioner of Food and Drugs Publishes Open Letter
The FDA's Commissioner of Food and Drugs, Dr. Margaret Hamburg, recently sent letters to 17 food manufacturers to correct labels on popular food products that the FDA believes misrepresent the products' health benefits, along with an open letter to the food manufacturing industry demanding they take action against "false or misleading" labels.
Hamburg notes in the letter that she has made the "improvement of scientific accuracy and usefullness of food labeling" one of her top priorites in her role as commissioner.
