Update on Section 18 Registrations for Apivar®

Nine States Should Now Have Section 18 Approval

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has cleared the way for Section 18 emergency registrations for the amitraz product Apivar®. The first states granted registration were South Dakota and Oregon. The following nine states should have Section 18 approval by now:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • South Dakota

Arkansas and Kentucky are expected to have approval very soon, and 12 more states are supposed to submit Section 18 in the coming weeks. These registrations are for one year and are done on a state-by-state basis. Beekeepers in states not listed should contact their Department of Agriculture to find out the status. A Section 3 general use registration is likely more than a year away.

The registrant, Arysta LifeScience, will be making announcements concerning distribution soon.
